LEYTE PARK HOTEL TACLOBAN
I have stayed at the Leyte Park Hotel many times before
settling in to living the Dulag Area some 35 km from Tacloban City Area.
The Hotel was built from my information by the former First
Lady Imelda Marcos. In February 1979 construction commenced and the hotel was
opened 1980. So there is a bit of history here.
The hotel is set on a 6 hectare property which could be described
as park like setting. The view from the upper rooms and dining area overlooking
San Pedro Bay is magnificent.
A PICTURE IS WORTH A 1000 WORDS- VIEW FROM MY ROOM
There has been a bit of deterioration over the years and
have heard the hotel is up for sale. Still it is a nice place to stay. We stay
here from time to time with my wife and daughter if we have business in
Tacloban City. The cost of a room is 2700 peso with breakfast for two. ($54 US)
The restaurant is more suited to the Philippines but I have
been living here awhile and use to it. The breakfast is basic but fresh fruit
and various dishes. You can order a special breakfast if you wish.
VIEW FROM THE RESTURANT WHILE HAVING A COLD BEER
The staff at this hotel are great. Sometimes you will have a
slight communication barrier. So speak slowly, be patient and polite and all
will be great.
Favorite Dish –
Sizzling Cambas, Spicy fresh shrimp on a hot plate with rice.
Internet in the front
entrance area is about the best in town
There used to be a jetty and a large sea food restaurant and
was so great for a night out. The restaurant was destroyed by Typhoon Yolanda
and was never rebuilt. I do hope when someone buys the hotel they will rebuild
this missed restaurant.
The heart of Tacloban city is just a few minutes away. A
trike will cost about 10 peso (20 cents US) per head to down town Tacloban
It all depends what you want when selecting a hotel. I put a
high emphasis on atmosphere and feeling comfortable in the surroundings. The
view of San Pedro Bay produces such a great atmosphere and finally but
important they keep the beer cold.
RECEPTION LEYTE PARK HOTEL- THE STAFF ARE GREAT
