EDUCATION IS SO IMPORTANT IN THE PHILLIPINES- FOREIGNERS PERSPECTIVE
EDUCATION IS SO
IMPORTANT IN THE PHILIPPINES
Parents in the
Philippines try so hard to give their children the best education they can.
There is one thing in the Philippines, the parents will try
so hard to give their children a better life through education. In this Dulag
Barangay (village) I see the children go to school every day. The children are
well dressed and clean. Even being poor they go to tremendous lengths to do the
best they can for their children. It is very expiring
Before marriage it was always agreed with my wife I would
give opportunity to her family the best I can and within my means.
Some disappointment
from a foreign spouse
My wife has 3 brothers. One is a truck driver in Manila and
happy doing that work. The second brother wanted to be a policeman but could
not pass the entrance exam. We then paid for a security guard course and he is
now also working in Manila. The youngest brother wanted to study welding and
fabrication but dropped out in his third year of college. This was a
disappointment but is also a choice. An old Western saying “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t
make it drink.”
Success with my
wife’s younger sister
When I met my wife I asked her younger sister what do want
to do when you leave school. She called me Uncle. “Uncle I want to be a nurse
so can look after you when you are older! When she graduated from High School
she applied to be a nurse but failed the entrance exam. I asked “what other
career would you like?” Human Resource Management (HRM).
Very Proud
She started
college and has done very well. She studied hard and will graduate in Human
Resource Management on the 25 March 2017. Before graduation my wife was called
to see the head teacher. It was a formality as all exams were passed and it was
in relation to discuss the donation required for the graduation itself.
A PROUD DAY WIFES SISTER GRADUATES HRM 25 MARCH 2017
My wife described to me some parents were in tears at this
pre graduation meeting as they were informed their children would have to
repeat the final year.
My wife’s younger sister took the opportunity and succeeded.
So very HAPPY AND PROUD
Education is so
important in the Philippines
Being a foreigner here I do look at job advertisements. If
you are not a graduate or obtain a degree it can be so hard to get any job. It
is hard as college and university fees can be high. The Philippine Parents do
their best. From a foreigners perspective helping with education is not
support, it is giving OPPORTUNITY!
MANY PROUD PARENTS IN TACLOBAN 25 MARCH 2017
