Pines Farm Resort in the Mountains of Burauen Leyte

Pines Farm Resort is located 5km from Burauen Town Proper in the barangay Abuyogon. Coming from Burauin the turn off to the resort will be on your left hand side. It is a bit of a drive from Tacloban City but well worth it!

A Beautiful Mountain Setting
 This resort is in a very natural and beautiful setting. The water coming off the mountain is rain runoff. There is no industry in this area that is polluting the atmosphere so the water you are swimming in is very clean. If you enjoy the outdoors and like a beautiful rain forest atmosphere then this resort can bring an enjoyable day
On the day we visited this resort I only spotted two foreigners. Filipino’s appear to visit these resorts for a celebration of some kind. From what I observed there is no restaurant at the resort so you need to bring your own foods and drink.

For Filipinos and foreigners visiting the area this can be resolved. You may have to purchase an esky (chilli bin) fill with ice to keep drinks cold and preserve food. There are many places where you can buy pork and chicken that has been cooked on a rotisserie. In supermarkets there are salad bars with a reasonable selection. I mention this because if you are staying at a hotel, yes they can prepare food for you but it maybe for some on the expensive side.
Description
 Virtually what we have is a significant mountain stream of cool running water. A number of pools have small dam walls but there is always a constant flow of water passing over. With the difference between the water temperature and ambient air temperature it feels quite cold until the body adapts. The top pool is very shallow at 450 mm in depth (18 inches) and ideal for young children

Then there is two more pools downstream which increase in depth to about 1200mm (4 feet).The cottages are on the right hand side looking downstream.

You can even go further downstream where the flowing water passes over the final dam wall.  In this area water is a slightly higher velocity (speed). This can be quite relaxing just lying in these pools and have the water just pass over you.

One issue, it is a reasonable walk from the car park to the cottages by the stream. So exercise is part of the day out.
Entrance fee and the cost of cottages
The entrance fee is 20 peso for adults and 10 peso for children. The cottage we rented on the day was 800 peso that could seat up to 20 people. There is no overnight accommodation at the resort. I asked the people at reception if there was an official phone contact. The answer was no which surprised me!
Getting there from Tacloban.
The distance from Tacloban to Burauin is between 38 km and 49 km depending on the route taken. The travel time is always dependent on traffic. Then from the town of Burauin to Pines Farm Resort is another 5km. Your hotel reception should be able to supply information on travel options from Tacloban.

A NEW RESORT FOR THE BUDGET CONCIOUS NOT TOO FAR FROM TACLOBAN CITY (DULAG AREA)

JANA’S RESORT When Filipinos and foreigners visit Tacloban and they have seen most of the sites they may be looking for a day with a difference. Especially now with the warm weather a nice swimming pool is very tempting. Foreigners and Filipinos may desire to stay in this type of resort if you like a quiet area There is a new resort about 38 km from Tacloban City in the Dulag area. The name is JANA’S RESORT. I visited this resort recently with family and friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a great day. THE ENTRANCE IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE I live in this area but closer to Tacloban To my best knowledge there is no resort of this type between Tacloban City and Dulag. There are a few pension houses on the way but nothing like this. Madonna of Japan Tacloban Leyte Philippines Introduction Madonna of Japan can be described as a Memorial Park located on Kanhuraw Hill that is not too far from Tacloban City Hall. After World War 2 there was hatred between Filipinos and Japanese but the two nations eventually reconciled. The Japanese Government erected a monument of Maria Kannon in this area. This became known as The Madonna of Japan Memorial Park. Link to location map   It is a symbol of friendship between the Filipino and Japanese people after World War 2.
