What is the rate of pay for the Mayweather McGregor Fight?

It is anticipated Mayweather will earn in access of $100 M US. Let’s round off the 10th round to 30 minutes. So Mayweather during this fight was earning approximately $3.4 M US every minute or $56,000 US / second.  For our Filipino readers that is 170,000,000 peso a minute or 2,800,000 peso every second. This is what the public were willing to pay and now this event is part of history.

It is hard to believe but if the world wide public wants a sporting event and now with pay per view these large amounts of money are possible. What will be the next event in sports to generate this amount of money is unknown but it will happen?

One could say I was tossing the coin to see whether I would pay the sum of 950 peso ($19US) to see this fight live. As mentioned in previous blogs I have no hesitation with Manny Pacquio fights as I always enjoy. As there was not too much interest in this fight by local people in this barangay (village) we decided not to obtain the pay for view.

So I had to wait for the delayed telecast on the Hyper channel. I just locked myself away as I did not want to know the result. I did not listen to any news or radio broadcast or check my computer. If you can isolate yourself from the news then a delayed telecast of a sporting event is just as good.

The result

There was allot of skepticism and most sports journalists appeared to be taking this fight as a joke. I have been following boxing for many years and in any fight a boxer who can hit as hard as McGregor has a chance.

In this fight McGregor performed very well in the first 3 rounds and from my account won this early stage of the fight. When you think about it, Mayweather is one of the best defensive fighters of all time and McGregor’s efforts were quite an accomplishment. McGregor was throwing punches from angles Mayweather may have never seen before. So McGregor achieved what many thought was not going to happen in those early rounds.

You could see in the 7th round McGregor was running out of gas. The fight finished in the 10th round with a win to Mayweather by technical knockout. Mayweather has more money and McGregor is in a position where he does not have to fight again if he chooses. Pay for view will dictate the final amounts these two fighter will receive.

Final Thoughts

To me the fight was not great but still I found it entertaining. For me the reputation of the sport of boxing was on the line but boxing prevailed. Still looking at McGregor having his first professional boxing bout and taking on Mayweather, one of the best fighters of all time and lasting into the 10th round, was actually quite feat in itself.

A NEW RESORT FOR THE BUDGET CONCIOUS NOT TOO FAR FROM TACLOBAN CITY (DULAG AREA)

JANA’S RESORT When Filipinos and foreigners visit Tacloban and they have seen most of the sites they may be looking for a day with a difference. Especially now with the warm weather a nice swimming pool is very tempting. Madonna of Japan Tacloban Leyte Philippines Introduction Madonna of Japan can be described as a Memorial Park located on Kanhuraw Hill that is not too far from Tacloban City Hall. After World War 2 there was hatred between Filipinos and Japanese but the two nations eventually reconciled. The Japanese Government erected a monument of Maria Kannon in this area.
