MANNY PACQUIAO VERSUS JEFF HORN-AUSTRALIAN LIVING IN THE PHILIPPINES DISPUTES THE DECISION

This blog is about Tacloban and surrounding areas. I am an Australian living in a barangay (village) in the Dulag Leyte area. I have been living in this Barangay for six years and know many of the local Filipino people living here. I am not rich but try and help whenever I can.

Most people in this Barangay are poor but happy. Some are farmers, farm laborers or work in Dulag or Tacloban. Filipino people are proud and that pride is shown when Manny Pacquiao takes the world stage. This time Manny fights Jeff Horn of Australia to defend his World Welter Weight title in Brisbane Australia.

I purchase the pay for view and set up our flat screen TV in the car port.  All Filipino people in this and other barangays were welcome to watch the fight at my house. It is not much but a gesture to allow the locals to see the fight live. It is not the same to watch a fight after you know the result

Totally shocked at the Pacquiao Decision

The statistics on the fight showed Manny landed many more punches including power punches and jabs. I see Jeff Horn at a news conference the following day. His face did not look of a boxer who had won a world title. His face was that of a boxer who took a severe beating. On the other side Manny Pacquiao being interviewed on Philippine television had evidence of the cut from the clash of heads but he was not marked the same as Horn. I do recognize Jeff Horn is a very tough fighter

I can see a similarity with the first Manny Pacquiao, Bradley fight. Manny landed considerably more scoring punches than Bradley. But the judges appeared to focus on aggression. Yes aggression is part of the scoring criteria but you are not landing clean or power shots, you are not scoring.

Manny Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighter of all time. We all have our opinions but I put him and Mohamed Ali together in my life time of following the sport. We will never see another fighter achieve what Manny Pacquiao has accomplished. I want to see him retire and fulfil his main ambition in life to help the Filipino people. But Manny deserves a chance to go out a winner.

Jeff Horns next fight has to be the return match with Manny Pacquiao. There is no other alternative.

Manny is coming to the end of his career and is now a Senator in the Philippine Government. It must be so hard to complete his Senator duties and train for World title fight. Manny Pacquiao has bought so much pride and happiness to the Philippine people.

I am hoping Manny Pacquiao will be given temporary leave from Senate duties for the return match with Jeff Horn to allow him to attend a full training camp.

A NEW RESORT FOR THE BUDGET CONCIOUS NOT TOO FAR FROM TACLOBAN CITY (DULAG AREA)

JANA’S RESORT When Filipinos and foreigners visit Tacloban and they have seen most of the sites they may be looking for a day with a difference. Especially now with the warm weather a nice swimming pool is very tempting. Foreigners and Filipinos may desire to stay in this type of resort if you like a quiet area There is a new resort about 38 km from Tacloban City in the Dulag area. The name is JANA’S RESORT. I visited this resort recently with family and friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a great day. THE ENTRANCE IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE I live in this area but closer to Tacloban To my best knowledge there is no resort of this type between Tacloban City and Dulag. There are a few pension houses on the way but nothing like this. FOREIGNER BUILDING A HOUSE IN LEYTE PROVINCE PHILIPPINES

INTRODUCTION I have foreign friends in different parts of the Philippines who prefer to live in condominiums or gated communities. This is a personal choice. From what I have been told from these friends rent can be anywhere from 50,000 to 70,000 peso a month. When you look at the rent that is 600,000 to 840,000 peso per year. In dollars that is $12,000 to $17,000 US/year  I should point out these condominiums are a bit up market and you could rent cheaper places. I am living approximately 35 km from down town Tacloban in the Dulag area. I found a barangay with the help of my wife that is safe and just inland from the sea. To go for a swim or just relax the Pacific Ocean is only a few kilometers away.
